Last month the Culinary department on board ms Amsterdam started a large scale initiative to train and certify their foodservice crewmembers in the Basic Sanitation course. The course was instructed by Culinary Operations Manager Bart Groeneveld who trained about 200 crewmembers over a period of four weeks.

The assessment was conducted using the assessment module on the Learning Management System. The same course is taught by Holland America Line’s Fleet Public Health Officer/ Trainer Carsten Schmidt. On board Environmental Officer Jonathan Bailey assisted with coordinating the Training. This new basic sanitation course also can be taken using the training modules posted on eFleet (Training>Fleet Training>Basic Sanitation Training Modules) and Basic Sanitation Training Manuals in accordance with Operational Directive OD 006-08 Basic and Advanced Sanitation Training Certification.
